Nüümü Poyo (John Muir Trail/JMT)

Nüümü Poyo is the original name for the network of trade routes used for centuries throughout the High Sierra. “The People’s Trail” was subsequently codified into a 211 mile long trail that runs from the summit of Mt. Whitney to Yosemite Valley through the high Sierra and renamed the John Muir Trail. It is coincident with the Pacific Crest Trail for most of its length. Thru-hiked in 2005, completed 160 miles in 2014.

I summited Mount Whitney from the PCT…

And later continued my hike from Tuolumne Meadows down to the Yosemite Valley in the midst of my PCT thru-hike. I returned in 2014 in an attempt to set the unsupported FKT for the JMT and halted my attempt at Red’s Meadow.
